Joe Ward celebrates victory
The first session of the weekend’s National Elite Men’s and Women’s Championships semi-finals was completed amid a tremendous atmosphere at the National Stadium tonight.
London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympians Darren O’Neill, Joe Ward and Brendan Irvine all came through their last-four tests in Dublin on unanimous and majority decisions.
All 28 boxers today weighed in ahead of tonight’s National Elite Men’s and Women’s Championships semi-finals at the National Stadium in Dublin.
Fourteen last-four bouts will be decided this evening. Boxing begins at 7pm.
The second session of semi-finals is scheduled for Saturday to complete the line up for the 2017 National Elite finals on February 17th.
The first session of weigh-ins for the National Elite Championship semi-finals was completed this morning at the National Stadium between 8am and 9am.
The second session of weigh-ins will be held between 12pm and 1pm today at the National Stadium.
Boxing begins at 7pm tonight.

London 2012 Olympian Darren O’Neill was elected to the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) Executive at the OCI EGM at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin last night.
The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) was represented by President Pat Ryan, CEO Fergal Carruth and Vice-President Joe Hernon at the EGM.
