Irish coaches Zaur Antia and Pat McDonagh in Romania

Irish Elite champion Kurt Walker and Jordan Moore stretched Ireland’s unbeaten run to three on the bounce at the European U/22 Championships in Braila, Romania today.

Both men took four of the five judges with them in 4-1 verdicts, Moore beating Andry Tyshkavenko of the Ukraine 4-1 and Walker following that up on an identical verdict over Adrian Powal of Poland.

The Leinster and Ulster light-fly and bantam will now meet Raffaele di Serio of Italy and England’s William Cawley in the last 16 and quarter-finals. read more

Gabriel Dossan O Team Ireland experienced contrasting fortunes at the Pavlyukov Youth Memorial in Anapa, Russia today, with Gabriel Dossen advancing but Jason Harty bowing out to Kazakhstan.

World Youth bronze medallist Dossen, pictured, progressed to the last-eight after a hard-earned but deserved victory over a home favourite.

The Olympic BC welter beat Russia’s European Junior champion Ivan Stupen on a split decision at the Black Sea Port to join Tommy Hyde in the quarter-finals. read more

Irish boxing will be battling on two fronts in eastern Europe today, with athletes in the ring in Romania and Russia.

Ireland’s Youths are first up in Anapa, Russia, with Gabriel Dossen and Jason Harty between the ropes at the Pavlyukov Youth Memorial in Anapa, Russia versus Russia and Kazakhstan at approximately 11.15am and 1.15.pm (Irish times). read more
