The European Union Boxing Confederation (EUBC) released it’s 2025 competition calendar on the evening of Christmas Day. The calendar is here. The European Junior Championships will take place, in keeping with tradition, in July. The European Schools Championship will take place, as usual, in August.
The EUBC has chosen to break with its years-long tradition of holding the European Youth Championships in March/April, and has opted instead, to hold this Championship in October of 2025. This significant scheduling change could not have been foreseen by Central Council and has a knock-on effect on the IABA domestic calendar for next year.
This decision by the EUBC means the Youth tournament scheduled to begin on January 10th, and for which entries are being accepted, will now be a competition, not a championships. As such, the January competition will not be used as a tool of potential selection for international competition and is open to all boxers born 2007 and 2008. Please find attached the revised circular for the 2025 National Youth Competition.
We acknowledge that this news will not be welcomed by clubs and boxers and we share your displeasure at this turn of events. Central Council will schedule a 2025 National Youth Championships towards the end of the Summer.
