Dermot McDermott selected to officiate at the Olympics

Dermot McDermott from the Curragh Boxing Club in Co.Kildare has been selected by the Boxing Taskforce to officiate at the Tokyo Olympic Games. This will be his first Olympic games and he is the only Irish referee/judge to be selected to partake in the boxing section.

Dermot has over 15 years experience as an R&J and he was a former boxer with the Irish Ropes B.C. in Newbridge where under the tutelage of Eric McDonnell and Brian Cox, and the entire coaching team, Dermot won five National titles and represented his country on the International stage.

President Dominic O’Rourke said this was a great honour for Dermot and it showed that if officials are willing to put in the work, they will enable themselves to avail of these opportunities.
