The draw for the 2018 European Union Men’s Elite Championships in Valladolid, Spain will be held at 10am (Irish time) tomorrow morning, November 8.
The preliminaries begin tomorrow afternoon (at a time to be confirmed).
”All boxers are in great spirits and looking forward to the start of the championships tomorrow,” said Irish team manager Stephen Molloy.
Tipperary super-heavy Dean Gardiner is Irish team captain in Spain.
John Conlan, who will be working Ireland’s corner with Eoin Pluck, will be keeping a close eye on the draw.
“I think there’s potential for everyone to do well. But it will be very strongly contested given the strength of boxing in Europe,” he said.
The seven-strong Irish squad arrived in Spain on Wednesday and will have a light training session at the Centro Tecnificación Deportiva today ahead of Friday’s weigh-ins.
The preliminaries and semi-finals will be hosted at the Pilar Fernández Valderrama venue with the finals slated for the Cúpula del Milenio.
