IABA works towards International Recognition of Boxing Coaching Qualifications.

The IABA is levelling-up the Coach Education Pathway, working towards international recognitition of Irish boxing coaching qualifications.

In partnership with Sport Ireland Coaching, the IABA is designingCoach Education Courses in line with the Coach Development Programme for Ireland (CDPI), which works towards an internationally recognised coach education pathway.

Sport Ireland Coaching’s long-established Level 2 Coach Developer programme is now included on the National Framework of Qualifications as a Level 7 Special Purpose Certificate in Sports Coach Development (PG24650). Learners who complete the qualification will receive QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) certification and 45 educational credits at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications PG24650 – QSearch (qqi.ie).

This is a significant milestone as:

  1. It raises the profile of the programme and the profile of Coach Developers nationally and internationally
  2. Learners who complete the programme earn educational credits which they can use to access Further and Higher Education
  3. The mobility of the award across Europe is strengthened as the National Framework of Qualifications is aligned to the European Qualifications Framework

The programme is delivered and managed in accordance with best practice in the quality assurance of education and training in Ireland.
