Michaela and Aidan Walsh are guaranteed at least bronze at the Commonwealth Games after winning their quarter-finals in Gold Coast, Australia this morning.
The brother and sister team claimed a unique and historic double after beating Keamogeste Kenosi (Botswana) and Leroy Hindley (New Zealand).
Kurt Walker saw off Moroke Mokhotho of Lesotho in the bantam class today, but Damien Sullivan and Stephen McMonagle bowed out to Australian and New Zealand heavy and super heavy Jason Whateley and Patrick Mailato.
As things stand, the Walshes, Walker and Kristina O’Hara are assured of at least bronze.
O’Hara will be aiming to upgrade her guaranteed podium finish to at least silver tomorrow versus New Zealand light-fly Tasymn Benny.
Rio Olympians Brendan Irvine and Steven Donnelly and Allan Nihell, Carly McNaul and James McGivern are in quarter-final action Wednesday.
Thursday is a rest day at the tournament. The semi-finals and finals will be decided on Friday and Saturday
