The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) is the National Governing Body of Sport
responsible for the development and management of the sport of amateur boxing in Ireland.
The IABA is seeking to appoint a Women in Sport Development and Inclusion Officer.


ROLE AND PURPOSE OF THE POSITION 

IABA is committed to increasing the sustained involvement of women in the sport as coaches,
volunteers, club members, officials, leaders, and participants, from grassroots to elite
performance and, in tandem, to ensuring boxing continues its tradition of inclusion of people
from a diversity of backgrounds and experiences. The purpose of the role is to project
manage and ensure the implementation of current and future WIS and Inclusion programmes
while developing strong relationships and providing expertise and support to the grassroots
clubs in the areas of women and girls boxing, and making boxing accessible to all .
This role will build on existing IABA industry-leading WIS programmes, including IABA.Period,
which is delivering free period products to over 350 clubs, and in Inclusion, develop on the
strong foundation laid in 2022 in the pan-NGB roll out of the first additional needs boxing
programme for children.
DURATION OF POST: This post will be funded initially for Duration (1 year) with the
possibility of extensions (Probationary period 6 months).
LOCATION: National Stadium, Dublin.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coach Development Programmes: Project manage the implementation of women in coaching
programmes – Women’s Coaching Pathway, Women’s Coaching Networks, Mentoring
programmes and coach education initiatives.
Coach Education: Project manage the implementation of focused women’s coach
education programme, provision and management of inclusion related training to all
coaches. Assisting the Development Manager in the development and administration of
the programme. 

Officiating Programme: Project manage the implementation of programmes to encourage
and support women in officiating, working closely with the Referees and Judges committee
responsible for officiating boxing.
Governance and Leadership Programme: Support the Board to achieve their objective of
minimum 40% gender balance through the implementation and coordination of Women in
Leadership programmes from club to board level. Support the Board in achieving inclusion
goals, such as the expansion and creation of boxing programmes for adults and children who
may not historically have accessed our sport.
Sustainable development club support: Provide support for the Sustainable Development Clubs
programme with focus on encouraging more female involvement in administration, coaching
and officiating within the Club.
Coordinate and collaborate: work in partnership with other sports and organisations to
maximise impacts and effect use of resources in WIS and Inclusion areas
Financial Management: Maintain the Women in Sport and Inclusion budgets, and complete
funding applications when required, working closely with the Finance Lead
Leading our sport: Support the development team and clubs in becoming an innovative
National Governing body using efficient and effective internal structures and systems.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Third level qualification in Sport Management/Coaching/Development or at least a years’
work experience in this area.
An understanding of boxing.
A background in coordinating and managing projects.
Administration experience. 
A demonstrable record of achieving results through others.
The facility to work flexible hours, as dictated by a sport which is largely leisure/volunteer
based would be an advantage
Possess excellent organisational and leadership skills
Proven ability to work as part of a team
Proven ability to think and plan strategically
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Full clean driving licence with own transport
Self-starter and able to work on own initiative
DESIRABLE
Digital native with good understanding of all social media platforms.
Level 1 sports coaching qualification or equivalent or higher
REMUNERATION 
Remuneration will be dependent on experience and skill relevant to this job description.
The post may require travel within Ireland.
