Team Ireland recorded 3 more wins on Day Four of the Women’s World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

50kg Caitlin Fryers opened proceedings in Ring B’s afternoon session, against South Africa’s Thandolwethu T. Mathiba. The Immaculata boxer took complete control of the bout from the first bell, and claimed a unanimous decision win: 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 30:26.

She next boxes on Sunday’s evening session, and will meet Italy’s Giordana Sorrento.

Contesting at 54kg, Niamh Fay forced a second round stoppage of her opponent, Modestine Zalia Munga of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Dublin boxer will next be in action in Sunday’s afternoon session, against Romania’s Lacramioara Perijoc

The final Team Ireland boxer to contest today was 66kg Kaci Rock, against Lithuania’s Austeja Auciute. It was a testy bout, but the Enniskerry boxer came away with a 4-1 split decision win – judges scores: 27:30, 29:28, 28:29, 28:29, 27:30. She next meets Ukraine’s Anna Lysenko in Sunday’s evening session.

One Team Ireland boxer contests on Day Five of the tournament. 70kg Lisa O’Rourke’s second bout of the competition will take place against Maria Hernandez Moronta of the Domnican Republic.

There is no afternoon session on Friday, and Lisa gets in to the ring in Bout 3 of Ring A’s evening session. Watch here
