The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) will not send a team to the 2016 European Women’s Youth and Junior Championships in Ordu,Turkey.
The tournament is scheduled to begin in the Northern Turkish province on September 18th.
Pat Ryan, President of the IABA, confirmed that following consultation with the IABA Central Council it has been decided that Ireland will not compete at the 2016 edition of the Championships.
Team Ireland were informed of the decision by the IABA President at training camp at the National Stadium in Dublin this morning.
The IABA President said that the development plan for Ireland’s top underage female boxers includes a number of upcoming international events.
