Kellie Harrington received her Irish Times Ireland Sportswoman of the month award for last May at the recent Irish Times Ireland Sportswoman of the Year Awards in Dublin.

Harrington, who boxes out of the Glasnevin BC, claimed light-welter silver at the 2015 AIBA World Elite Women’s Championships in Kazakhstan after becoming the first Irish woman beside Katie Taylor to reach an AIBA World Elite final.

The Dubliner is one of five Irish boxers –  along with Taylor, Jason Quigley, Michael Conlan and Joe Ward – to reach an AIBA World Elite decider.  The 26-year-old has since dropped down a notch to lightweight, which is one of the three Olympic weights for women.

Annalise Murphy (Sailing) won the Irish Times Ireland Sportswoman of the Year Award after claiming a historic silver at Rio 2016.

Pat Ryan, President of the IABA, attended the Award ceremony.
