IRISH SQUAD ARRIVE IN RUSSIA FOR EURO U/22s

Team Ireland arrived in Russia this morning ahead of the opening bell for the European Men’s and Women’s U/22 Championships.

The tournament begins Friday in Vladikavkaz.

“We have arrived and are at the hotel. All looking forward to the start of the competition,” said Team Manager Stephen Molloy.

Five current Irish Elite champions – Amy Broadhurst, Aoife O’Rourke,  Adam Hession, David Oliver Joyce and Gabriel Dossen – are included in the 10-strong team.

Broadhurst is the current European U/22 lightweight champion while O’Rourke claimed middleweight silver at the 2018 edition of the competition.

The panel finished up training on Friday under Irish coach Dmitry Dmitruk who will be working Ireland’s corner in Russia with Anita Just and Philip Keogh.

The finals will be decided on St Patrick’s Day.
