Ireland meet Kazakhstan – with two Indian boxers appearing at 49kg and 69kg – in a Test Match at Dublin’s National Stadium next Wednesday evening (7:30pm).

Admission is €5 for adults and children are free. No scores are kept in Test Matches.

Kazkahstan arrived in Dublin yesterday to begin a training camp with Ireland and India at the Irish Institute of Sport in Abbotstown.

Great Britain fly in this weekend and Germany join the world class IABA hosted training camp featuring 29 Rio 2016 Olympians early next week.

The Kazakhs have included nine Rio 2016 bound athletes in their squad. Welterweight Daniyar Yeleussinov, who has also qualified for Rio, has withdrawn due to injury.

Middleweight Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, who beat Donegal’s Jason Quigley in the 2013 World Elite final, is included in the Kazakh panel.

Quigley has since switched codes and is slated to have his 11th pro fight in Las Vegas tonight. The IABA wishe the ex Irish Elite champion the best of luck in Nevada.

Ireland’s Rio 2016 Olympians,Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlan and Joe Ward, line out versus the top Central Asia nation next Wednesday.

Ward renews aquaintances with Adilbek Niyazymbetov who he beat in the 2014 Chemistry Cup final in Germany.

Barnes, Conlan and Ward have been named on an Irish squad for the Socikas Multi-Nations which begin in Kaunas, Lithuania on May 17.

Olympic champion Katie Taylor is sparring and training with Russia’s Sofya Ochigava in Abbotstown. The 2011 and 2012 European, World and Olympic finalists, who have claimed seven AIBA World Elite gold medals betwen them, conclude their seven-day session Tuesday.

Kazakhstan finished in No. 1 position in the medals table at the 2013 AIBA World Men’s Elite Championships in Kazakhstan and in 8th position in the medals table, four places behind Ireland, at the 2015 World Men’s Elite Championships in Qatar.

Ireland and Kazakhstan shared joint 5th spot in the medals table at the London 2012 Olympics after claiming one gold, one silver and two bronze apiece.

Current Commonwealth Games Youth champion Brett McGinty edged current European Youth champion Michael Nevin on a split decision in a cracking 69kg encounter this evening.

Limerick’s World Junior silver medallist Paddy Donovan and Cork’s ex European Schoolboy champion Oliver McCarthy also progressed, along with Galway’s World Junior bronze medallist Kieran Molloy.

Six finals and the remaining semi-finals will be decided tomorrow at IABA HQ. Boxing begins at 11am.

Ireland’s Dervla Duffy and Great Britain’s Olympic champion Nicola Adams, both pictured, had a top class spar at the English Institute of Sport today.

Sky Sports were at ringside the record some fiery exchanges between Duffy and Adams, who has qualified for Rio 2016, in Sheffield.

The footage will be used in a future broadcast.

The Irish Women’s Elite squad are in training camp with Great Britain, France, Germany and the Czech Republic in Sheffield in the build up to the 9th AIBA World Women’s Elite Championships at Olympic qualifiers which begin in Kazakhstan on May 19.
