Boxing Styles
Boxers are usually classed as ‘orthodox’ or ‘southpaw’ depending on the type of stance preferred during a bout. It is also very important for correct balance and posture that the boxer maintains the same distance between their legs while moving
Orthodox Boxing Stance
- In a standing position with your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart, take a step forward with your left leg.
- Turn the toes so that they are pointing in a similar direction and adjust your feet slightly so that you feel balanced and comfortable.
- Keeping your hands in a relaxed mode by your side, raise them both so that your hands are by the side of your face.
- Close your hands but don’t clench them.
- Tuck your chin down and look forward.
- Tuck your elbows into your sides so that your body is protected.
