IABA Announces Governance Review Workshops.

The IABA will hold a series of workshops on the Governance Review. Affiliated clubs attending the EGM on July 10th will be asked to vote on accepting 7 of its 64 recommendations -namely, recommendations 14 to 21. The first workshop will take place on Monday, June 20th, via Zoom, at 7pm.

Motion 1:

“That the Company Constitution and the Company Rulebook 2019 be amended to reflect the Recommendations of the Governance Review as they relate specifically to the composition of the Board of Directors.”

Motion 1 explained:

The Board of Directors have agreed at a meeting held on 9th May 2022, that the recommendations of the recent Company Governance Review (herein, “the Review”), copy attached and available on the Company website, that dealt specifically with the make up or constitution of the Board of Directors be put to the members at an Extraordinary General Meeting for their approval. Those recommendations are set out at Recommendations 14 – 21. If the EGM adopts the changes, then a new Board will need to be constituted and they will be tasked with bringing all the other recommendations contained in the Review to the membership.

If Motion 2 passes at the EGM, the newly constituted Board will decide which of the remaining recommendations to implement, and how they will be implemented.

Brian MacNeice is the author of the IABA Governance Review Report and will deliver this workshop. Any adult member of a club which has applied to affiliate for the 2022/2023 season may attend the workshop.

Workshop attendees may submit questions to be taken at the workshop during the registration process.

Registration deadline: 12pm on Monday, June 20th

A second workshop, via Zoom webinar, will take place later this month, and registration details will be announced in due course. This workshop will also be available to any adult member of a club which has applied to affiliate for the 2022/2023 season.
