The IABA is delighted to confirm that clubs, county boards and provincial councils (units) who were successfully affiliated for the 2021/22 season will not have to pay affiliation or insurance fees for the 2022/2023 season. This is a saving of in the region of €650 for each unit.
IABA is mindful of the financial challenges many units within the organisation face, and thanks to the work of the IABA staff team in successfully securing resilience funding, are in a position to fund affiliation and insurance fees for this season 2022/23. The IABA would like to acknowledge the work of the subcommittee put in place by the board of directors and the support of Sport Ireland.
In order for units to access free affiliation and insurance fees for season 22/23 and enjoy the privileges of membership they must fulfil the following criteria:
Have been successfully affiliated in season 2021/22
Must submit their application for affiliation through the Blocworx online platform before 1st June 2022
Affiliation for the 2022/2023 season opens at midday on Saturday, April 30th, through the Blocworx portal.

Additional information in relation to the process, including individual Blocworx log in details, accompanying guidance videos and procedural documents will be issued to Clubs, County Boards and Provincial Councils on Friday 29th April 2022.

A 9 strong Team Ireland squad to contest the Women’s World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, has been named, and includes a Tokyo Olympian, a reigning Strandja champion, 2 reigning European U22 champions and 2 reigning Golden Belt champions.
Tokyo Olympic champion, Kellie Harrington, won’t be competing. Kellie has sustained an injury during Team Ireland’s training camp in Assisi, Italy. Whilst the injury isn’t grave, rehab won’t be completed in time for her to compete at women’s boxing’s blue riband competition, which begins on May 6th.
Kellie returned to the ring after winning Olympic Gold at the 73rd Strandja Memorial Tournament in February, where she won gold. Her preparations for the World Championships were very much on target until she became injured.
Kellie says “I’m devastated not to be competing at the Worlds. Training was going great, and I know I was the woman to beat in Turkey but– timing is everything, and there just isn’t enough time to heal before boxing starts. I have to prioritise my long-term health and fitness. Qualifying for Paris is still the goal. I’ll be rooting for all our Team Ireland boxers at the Worlds – it’s a strong, skilful team”
Team Ireland Head Coach Zauri Antia says “Kellie was preparing so well for these championships. It is very disappointing that she can’t compete, but Kellie is right – her long-term fitness, and qualifying for Paris are the most important things. She will return home to Dublin to rehab her injury and return to training when she is fit again. We are bringing a talented team of boxers to the Women’s World Championships, and I know every Team Ireland boxer has Kellie’s support”.
