2022 IATBA Championships Begin On Saturday.

Over 130 boxers will contest the 2022 IATBA Championships, which will take place at the National Stadium, Dublin.

Boxing begins on Saturday, when there are 24 bouts down for decision.

Ireland To Take On Wales In An International At The Home Of Irish Boxing.

The IABA is delighted to confirm that an Ireland V. Wales international will take place at the National Stadium, the home of Irish boxing.

10 bouts, in all, will be boxed on Friday, March 4th, in the first international event to be held at the stadium in 2 years.

The card begins at 7pm and will be live-streamed on IABA’s YouTube channel.

The Ireland team to contest on the night includes 8 newly crowned U18 champions.

Harrington & O’Rourke Will Box For Gold In Strandja On Saturday.

Olympic lightweight champion, Kellie Harrington and Olympian, Aoife O’Rourke, will box for gold at the 73rd Strandja International Tournament .

Both boxers came through their semi finals today with unanimous decisions, and decisive performances.

W75kg Aoife O’Rourke was first in the ring in Sofia, Bulgaria this morning. She faced Russia’s Anastasiia Shamonova

Shamonova is the European U22 middleweight champion, and 2018 Youth Olympic champion at the same weight.

Aoife will face Panama’s Atheyna Bylon in Saturday’s final. That’s bout 5 of the tournament, in the evening session, Ring A

Kellie will take on Serbia’s Natalia Hadrina, after a straightforward unanimous victory over Rimma Volossenko.

The judge’s scorecards read: 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.

Kellie will step between the ropes in Sofia in bout 6 of Saturday’s afternoon session, Ring A.

The IBA streams the tournament on its YouTube channel, and links per ring and session will be issued on Saturday morning

Ireland U22 Select 5-3 Victors Over Scotland.

An Ireland U22 select were the 5-3 victors in last night’s international against Scotland in Belfast last night.

The card was hosted by the County Antrim Boxing Board in Corpus Christi Boxing Club, Whiterock Road, Belfast, in association with IABA and Belfast City Council’s Boxing Strategy. Bouts were streamed on the Belfast Boxers Facebook page

Last night’s bouts followed a week long training camp between the two teams, involving 28 Irish boxers, coached by Damian Kennedy, Eoin Pluck, Liam Corr, Jay Delaney and Rory McShane.

The Scotland training camp team included 10 boxers and was coached by Craig McEvoy, Mike Keane and Ricky Burns.

The camp took place at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.

Strandja Day Five: McNaul Bows Out.

Carly NcNaul has bowed-out of the 73rd Strandja International Tournament at the Quarter Final stage.

The W52kg boxer put in a valiant performance against Tetiana Kob of Ukraine, but lost on a unanimous decision.

Carly was the only Team Ireland in the ring in Sofia today.

On Friday, Olympic champion, Kellie Harrington, and fellow Olympian, Aoife O’Rourke, contest the semi-finals.

Both women have already secured at least bronze medals, and will vie for the chance to up-grade their hardward.

W60kg Kellie Harrington will meet Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volossenko in bout 11 of Ring A’s afternoon session.

W75kg Aoife O’Rourke will contest against Russia’s Anastasia Shamonova in Bout 8 of Ring B’s afternoon session.

Boxing begins at midday, Irish time. The tournament is being streamed on the IBA’s YouTube channel.
