The fixtures list was extremely disrupted because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The last Irish boxer in action this year was Brendan Irvine who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics at the European qualifiers in London on March 16 last.

The European qualifiers were postponed just a few hours after Irvine qualified in the English capital.

Aidan Walsh and Michael Nevin were also between the ropes at the qualifiers on March 16 last, with both men recording victories.

Kurt Walker and Carly McNaul were also in action in London on St Patrick’s Eve.

ANOTHER glorious chapter in the illustrious history of the Glen BC was written on Saturday last following an official visit from An Taoiseach Michael Martin.

The club was bedecked in all its splendour and its walls and hallways proudly illustrated in pictures and story the deeds from its boxing ambassadors spanning over 100 years.

The Taoiseach and his entourage, which included two cars, arrived promptly at noon. Michael Martin was formerly welcomed by the Chairman of the club Anthony Connolly and the President of the Cork County Boxing Board Michael O’Brien.

A public consultation been launched to determine the public’s views on sporting events which should be made available on a free-to-air basis.

The consultation aims to give the public a say about the current list of events, and whether any events should be considered for addition to or removal from it.
