Today’s weigh-ins, held between 8am and 9am and 12pm and 1pm at the National Stadium, are now complete.

Thirteen bouts will be decided tonight. Boxing begins at 7pm.

ELITE SCHOOLBOY TRAINING

 

 

 

Elite Schoolboy Squad Training takes place this Sunday morning, February 11th, at 11am. Two sessions of boxing take place on the day with training finishing at approximately 3:30pm.

All Irish Champions from last season at Boy 1/2/3/4 plus Cadet Champions at those ages are invited to attend. Any boxer who will be unable to attend should contact Elite Schoolboys Coordinator Paddy Gallagher at paddythegaa59@gmail.com or 087-6286269.

Boxers are asked to bring water for two sessions and good quality 16oz sparring gloves.

TRIBUTE TO PJ DAVITT

 

Fran Long has paid tribute to an Irish Amateur Boxing legend that passed away 20 years ago today.

PJ Davitt boxed out of Julianstown boxing Club & Pheonix boxing club Dublin.

He won the Irish junior/Intermediate title in 1977 at featherweight and went on to win the Lightwelter weight title in 1980.

The highlight of his amateur career was representing Ireland at the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980.

PJ went on to box as a professional & won the BUI super lightweight title in 1982 and recorded 9 wins and 3 losses.

PJ is also the brother of the two of Ireland’s  boxing legends Tony & Tommy.

Tony Davitt legendary Irish amateur Coach, Pheonix boxing club Dublin & Drimnagh boxing club. Tony is one of Ireland’s most successful coaches trainer of Olympians ,National champions at all levels.

Tommy Davitt an Irish juvenille champion, Irish Intermediate & senior champion as well as a pro career.
