THE ENACTMENT OF THE NATIONAL VETTING BUREAU ACT 2012 -2016

3 NVB 3 Parent Guardian Consent Form (2)

New Vetting Form 2016

Today sees the enactment of the National Vetting Bureau Act 2012-2016. The act makes vetting mandatory for anyone volunteering or seeking employment relating to children or vulnerable persons. Anybody who is involved in ‘any work or activity which is carried out by a person, a necessary and regular part of which consists mainly of the person having access to, or contact with children’ must be vetted.

It will be an offence for a club or organisation to employ someone to work with children or vulnerable persons without completing the vetting procedures set out in the Act.

It is now illegal for clubs to allow NEW VOLUNTEERS to take part in regulated relevant work without firstly completing the vetting process. The Act will commence retrospectively for ALL VOLUNTEERS in regulated activity on the 31st December 2017.

Please see attached the New Garda Vetting Form, guidelines for completing Vetting Forms and parent/guardian consent form.

Your Sincerely,

David Britton
