MOYLETTE LOSES OUT IN ISTANBUL

Ray Moylette lost out in his AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) debut in Istanbul, Turkey this afternoon.

The Mayo light-welter, who was selected by the International Boxing Association, was beaten on a unanimous decision by Turkey’s Gozgec Batuhan in the Turkish capital in his first six-round fight.

Dmitry Dmitruk and Martin Brennan were working Moylette’s corner in Istanbul.

Batuhan, who boxed in APB last season, earned a 60-54 decision across the board against the 2011 European Elite and 2008 World Youth champion.

Ray Moylette weighed-in this morning ahead of his AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) debut in Istanbul tomorrow.

The ex European Elite champion tipped the scales at 63.7kg.

Moylette meets Turkish light-welter Gozgec Batuhan on a four-bout card at the Olympic Sports Complex.

Saturday’s card features a World Championship headline fight between Turkey’s Adem Kilicci and Russia’s Artem Chebotarev.

Boxing begins at 4pm (Irish time) tomorrow.

Ray Moylette will be the first Irish boxer in competitive action this year in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday.

The 2011 European Elite champion meets Turkey’s Gozgec Batuhan in AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) at the Olympic Sports Complex.

Saturday’s four-bout card will feature a World Championship headline fight between Turkey’s Adem Kilicci and Russia’s Artem Chebotarev.

Kilicci is defending the title he won last year. Moylette, who was selected by the International Boxing Association for Istanbul, meets Batuhan over six rounds.

The weigh-ins will be held tomorrow.

DUNGARVAN TRAINING CAMP WITH RUSSIA

Team Ireland will finish up their training camp with Russia at the Dungarvan Sports Centre in Waterford tonight, February 4th.

Both nations have a test match lined up for this evening before a virtual new Irish squad resume training with the visitors from tomorrow on.

Michael Nevin and World and European medallist James McGivern, Eamer Coughlan and Patrick Donovan are included in the second Irish panel ahead of a test match on February 10th.

Nevin completed a unique hat-trick last year after he added a European Youth gold to his European Junior and European Schoolboy titles.

Aaron McKenna and Brian Kennedy will remain in training camp with the Irish side in Dungarvan.

Irish head coach Billy McClean said that the training camp with a world class Russian side is progressing exceptionally well.
