This is a record number of clubs and, for many, this will be the first time managing a Sports Capital Grant funding receipt, and it can be a challenging process.
National Club Development Manager, James Geraghty, will hold a workshop to help clubs answer any questions they might have about navigating the system and using their grant, from receipt of funds, record keeping, reporting, project oversight, and project changes.
There are two possible dates for this workshop, and clubs can register their preference here. The workshop will take place on the date preferred by the majority of respondents. Ideally, the person who attends the workshop should be the person who will administer the grant.
James is also on-hand to offer help and advice through james@iaba.ie
Our Women in Sport Lead, Louise McKenzie, is now opening registration for the Menstrual Cycle & Nutrition onlineseminar, which is part of asuite of new programmes, coach and club resources to further the work clubs are already doing in supporting women and girls in boxing.
The free seminar, open to affiliated clubs, is being will be facilitated by Stephen Floyd, Performance Nutritionist, and will focus the impact of restrictive diets & weight making has on the menstrual cycle, health & performance.
Stephen will also discuss some key nutrition strategies which will help us to optimise our diet during this time, thus helping us to maintain a healthy weight and immune system. He will also discuss how weigh cutting can be done correctly and how doing it wrong can have a negative impact on performance. Stephen’s presentation will last approximately 60 minutes, followed by a Q&A session via Chat function.

The IABA Women’s Mentor group, all of whom are graduates of the Sport Ireland Women in Sport Leadership programme, is gathering tips, advice and guidance for any club which wishes to increase the number of women and girls in their membership. This leaflet will be released in March.
Champions – IABA will shortly invite expressions of interest from key women of boxing in every county to act as Boxing Ambassadors to women competitors, sports administrators, coaches and volunteers in their areas.
This first pillar of programmes and resources will be followed later this year by second suite of supports for clubs, and Louise welcomes your input on how best to support bringing more women and girls in to boxing in training, in competition, coaching or volunteering.
