Dates confirmed: 2025 National Elite Championships.

The dates for the 2025 National Elite Championships have now been confirmed.

The marque championships in Irish boxing will take place at the National Stadium, Dublin, from November 11th to 15th, inclusive.

These championships will be open to boxers aged 19 to 40, who are members of clubs successfully affiliated for the 2024/2025 season. Entry will be made by the club, through the club’s Blocworx portal.

106 boxers entered the 2024 National Elite Championships, held in November of 2023.

Competition arrangements and particulars, including entry dates, will be shared in due course.

Coach Ed: Youth Mental Health First Aid Course.

We are pleased to announce our upcoming Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training tailored specifically for Sports Coaches and those working in the community in sports settings. This two-day course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to support young athletes’ mental health, ensuring a safe and supportive environment within your sports programs.

Youth Mental Health First Aid training from Mental Health First Aid Ireland is designed for adults who live with, work with, or support young people aged between 12 and 18.

This course teaches participants how to assist a young person who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. The course uses a practical, evidence-based action plan and is ideal for parents/guardians, school staff, sports coaches, community group leaders, youth workers, and others who regularly interact with youth.

Introducing: IABA Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Officer, Patrick Adejayan.

IABA is delighted to welcome Patrick Adejayan to his role as Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Officer.

Patrick’s role will be to create and drive initiatives which make boxing even more accessible to a wide variety of communities. He will oversee communities’ engagement, stakeholder management, planning, organizing, and the active implementation of school, community and club participation programs

Patrick joins IABA as an Equality Diversity and Inclusion Specialist, Researcher, and Learning and Development Professional, holds a Bachelor of Business Degree, a Masters of Business in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, a Post Graduate Degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a QQI Level 8 Higher Diploma in Social Studies, in addition to an extensive background in the finance and IT spaces 

Patrick authored a guide book on active citizenship titled “The Executant”, while engaged in a European Union Peace IV funded inclusion and integration project through the Leitrim Development Board and thereafter took a deep dive into social inclusion, health and wellbeing working as Suicide Risk Assessor (SOSAD Ireland), Youth Leader (Foróige Clubs), Social Care Worker for children with disability (Talbot Group), Project Worker (Crosscare), and Support Worker (Novas). Having previously managed a childcare facility, Patrick, fosters inclusion by working with and advocating for children with disabilities; including intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and acquired brain injury; as well as people experiencing homelessness, international protection applicants, and people struggling with addiction.
