Over 300 clubs submitted an affiliation application by midnight on May 31st, and these clubs will continue to enjoy the benefits and privileges of IABA affiliation pending approval of their application at county board, provincial unit and Head Office levels.
All applications are quality assessed to make sure they have been completed correctly and screened to confirm that the club is fully compliant (i.e., fully compliant committees, volunteers who have regular access to children and/or vulnerable adults are all vetted, etc.).
Clubs who successfully meet the full suite of requirements will be sent letters of affiliation and other applicable membership information by staff following the conclusion of the process. Clubs who are not fully compliant will be contacted by staff who will assist them in meeting these requirements, over the coming weeks.

Any club affiliating beyond June 1st should be aware that their club will not enjoy the privileges of membership between June 1st and the date on which their late affiliation is signed-off on.
The National Boy/Girl Junior Cadet Championships, for boxers born in 2008 and 2009, will begin on June 10th.
The deadline for entries is midday on Friday, June 3rd.
Competition Arrangements:
Venue: National Boxing Stadium, Dublin.
Dates: June 10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 24th and 25th
Entries: An entry fee of €10 applies. Clubs must enter boxers with Stephen Connolly: s.connolly1961@yahoo.com and sally@iaba.ie by 12pm on Friday 3rd June.
Draws: Tuesday, 7th June at 2pm in the National Stadium.The draw is being conducted on the basis of pre-entry only.
Weigh-in and Medical: Boxers will only weigh in on each day that they box.Boxing Record books to be presented by the boxer at their initial weigh-in, if not previously given to the IABA.
Weigh-in times: In National Stadium from 8.00am – 9.00am and 12pm – 1pm. Boxing: Times to be decided after the draw.
Duration of rounds: Boys & Girls 3 x 1.5 Minutes
Age Requirements: Boxers born in 2008 and 2009.
It is a condition of entry that all competitors and officials have a signed Waiver/Members Acknowledgement Form.
Anti-Doping may be carried out at any stage of the championships and all boxers must advise the doctor of any medication they are taking or have taken in the preceding 4 weeks. It is imperative that all boxers adhere to the Anti-Doping Rules and Regulations. For any queries regarding this matter, boxers/coaches should contact Mr. Larry Morrison, IABA Anti-Doping Officer on 086-0292476.Non Pregnancy Declaration forms must be signed.
Attire: Boxers shall have one red and one blue vest but may wear their club colours. Boxers must not wear long sleeved shirts under their vests. Hair must be tied back and swimming hats or hairnets should be worn under the headgear for boxers with long hair. No red, orange or pink gum shields are allowed.
Coaches: They must wear track suits and runners at all sessions and endeavour to set a high standard of hygiene in the corners. No shorts, caps or hats are allowed.
Sportsmanship: All decisions must be accepted in a sporting manner. Any complaints must be addressed to the Chief Official, Mr. Stephen Connolly. Please show respect to all Ringside Officials.

If however clubs have boxers at weights other than those listed (lighter or heavier), they will be accepted for the National Cadets. The Lord Mayor of Dublin Alison Gilliland has bestowed an award on the High Five Additional Needs Boxing Academy, its steering committee and Chair, Paddy Dingle.
High Five began in four clubs: Crumlin, Drimnagh, Palmerstown and St. Catherine’s BCs last October. In that time, over 300 units of training have taken place, delivered by dedicated club coaches who have undergone additional training.
The award recognised Paddy Dingle’s services to boxing and to the communities served by High Five boxing clubs.
In a statement on social media, Paddy said “What a brilliant night in the mansion house. Our High Five additional needs program receiving a award. Thanks to Philip Sutcliffe and our Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland for hosting this event. A special thanks to Una Lowry CEO of DCC Partnership for her support for this initiative and also Eilish Hardiman CEO of the National Children Hospital also all our sponsors whom have contributed over the year. To all our coaches and Volunteers from all clubs. Ciara Plunkett from the IABA for being the driving force to try and make this program a National program around Ireland in the future. Today is the deadline for completion of the affiliation process for the forthcoming season. Existing clubs are reminded that there are no affiliation fees for the 2022/2023 season
Unique usernames and passwords for affiliation via the Blocworx portal were issued on Friday, April 29th, along with resources to support completion of the affiliation process. If you have not received your usernames and passwords, please contact info@iaba.ie
Please note: Clubs have been able affiliate to the IABA for season 2022/23 since 12:00 pm/noon Saturday 30th April. The affiliation period will run from April 30th to May 31st.Only clubs, county boards and provincial councils which have fully completed the IABA’s affiliation process before 1st June 2022 will continue to enjoy the privileges of membership. Clubs, county boards and provincial councils can still submit applications after this date however, they will only enjoy the privileges of membership from the date on which their application receives final sign off.

Online Affiliation Process:
A link to access the affiliation platform, Blocworx, was emailed to Club Secretaries, on Friday, 29th April.
Clubs could begin their affiliation process after midday on Saturday, April 30th.
Click on the link and use the unique log-in details provided in the email from IABA head office to access the online affiliation platform.
To assist clubs, and to streamline the process, the IABA has included the most up to date membership data from last season 2021/22.
Clubs will have the option of adding new members or deleting members from their overall list.
Easy to follow instructional videos will be made available to members.
Staff will also be available to assist members with the digital affiliation process.
Clubs in Munster, Leinster and Connacht can submit their queries to info@iaba.ie and clubs in Ulster can submit their queries to ulster@iaba.ie
Submission of an affiliation application is not confirmation of successful affiliation.
All applications will be reviewed, in full, and signed off on before a clubs, county boards or provincial council will be deemed successfully affiliated.
For the avoidance of doubt: membership shall only become effective on the date all approvals have been finalised. If a dispute arises in relation to a body’s application for affiliation to IABA which leads to the application not being accepted, any monies paid as part of the affiliation process will be refunded to the body in question.
Clubs can change their mind about affiliating to the IABA.
To do this your club will need to give notice in writing. You can do this at any time up to 31st August 2022 after making your membership application and your entire membership will end. If you or any of your linked members enters a club to use the facilities during the cancellation period, the IABA will charge a proportion of the affiliation fee to cover this period and we will refund the balance of any fees you have already paid.
Clubs will only be viewed as affiliated members of the IABA following receipt of an official affiliation letter of acceptance from IABA head office.
Team Ireland claimed a gold, and a silver, in Yerevan, Armenia today, at the finals of the Men’s European Championships.
19 year old Dylan Eagleson, of St. Paul’s, Belfast, who claimed European U22 bronze this year, contested his bantamweight final against the more experienced Frenchman, Bilal Bennama. This was a pacey, testy final with a second round standing count for the Bangor boxer, who showed style, agility and bravery throughout the contest. The judges scored the out 5-0 in favour of Bennama
2022 European Middleweight Champion, Gabriel Dossen/Magrit Kincses.
Olympic BC, Galway’s Gabriel Dossen met England’s Lewis Richardson the middleweight final, fresh from a bout deemed the best of the day in the semi-finals. Gabriel was dominant throughout the bout, contesting in an assured, mature manner against a strong and experienced opponent. The decision, 5-0, went to the Irishman.
The 2022 Men’s European Championships has been an excellent tournament for Team Ireland, with half of the squad reaching the quarter final stage. Team Ireland Head Coach, Zauri Antia, speaking as Dylan and Gabriel won-through to today’s finals, said ““ I want to congratulate the club coaches of each and every Team Ireland boxer for their support and trust in preparation for the Men’s European Championships. All boxers have performed well and gained very valuable high-level experience. I also want to say thank you to the team here in Yerevan – Coaches Dmitrij Dmitruk and Damien Kennedy, our doctor, Jim Clover, performance analyst Alan Swanton and physiotherapist, Lorcan McGee.”
Dylan and Gabriel join and elite group of 14 Irish boxers who’ve won 21 European medals, between them, since 1939, beginning with James Ingle, at a championships held at the National Stadium. The list includes Aoife O’Rourke, Kurt Walker, Joe Ward (3), Michael Conlan, Katie Taylor (6), Jason Quigley, John Joe Nevin, Ray Moylette, Paddy Barnes, Paul Griffin, Maxie McCullough, Gearoid O’Colmain and Patrick Dowdall.
