HARRINGTON RECEIVES BEST EUROPEAN FEMALE BOXER AWARD

Kellie Harrington received the Best Female Boxer of 2018 Award at the 1st European Boxing Confederation Awards in Rotterdam this afternoon.

Pictured above, the Dubliner and France’s Sofiane Oumiha, both lightweights, claimed the Best Male and Female accolades.

Harrington secured World Elite gold and European Elite bronze in 2018.

The St Mary’s BC stand out and Germany’s Ornella Wahner were the only Europeans to top their podiums at the World Elite Championships in New Delhi last November.

Harrington, the current AIBA World No.1 lightweight, said she was proud to receive the Continental plaudits.

The world champion, who is in Rotterdam with her club coach Noel Burke, trained and sparred in the Dutch city ahead of today’s ceremony.

Harrington will defend her lightweight title at next month’s National Elite Championships at Dublin’s National Stadium.
