BOY 1 & 2 CHAMPIONS TRAINING THIS SUNDAY

Squad training for Boy 1 and Boy 2 Champions in 2018 takes place this Sunday at the National Boxing Stadium from 11am – 3:30pm.

All boxers are asked to present with their full boxing/training gear which includes good quality 16oz sparring gloves, headguard, groin guard, bag gloves, skipping rope, plus water for two sessions.

INTERNATIONAL MEDALS (SO FAR) IN 2018

The count stands at 61 medals, 39 of which were won at World, European and Olympic Youth level at all grades from Elite to Schoolboy/girl.

22 medals were secured in multi-nation competition in Europe.

WINTER BOX CUP (ENGLAND)

 

 

 

England Boxing is delighted to announce the entry details for the inaugural Women’s Winter Box Cup. It will take place on the 8th and 9th December 2018 at George H Carnell Centre, Kingsway Park, Urmston, Manchester, M41 7FJ.

The competition is open to both England Boxing’s membership and international entrants and forms a key part of England Boxing’s strategy to create more competitive opportunities in women’s boxing.

Women’s boxing continues to grow across the country and we were delighted with our recent success at the AIBA World Youths Championships, with Caroline Dubois and Gemma Richardson becoming England’s first ever female Youth World Champions. It is envisaged that this will become an annual event, with it being a key part of our strategy and supported by Sport England. We hope you will be able to join us at the first England Boxing Women’s Winter Box Cup.

The competition details are as follows:

Date: December 8th and 9th 2018.

Weigh-in, registration and draw to take place 6pm – 9pm on December 7th.

IRISH SQUAD FOR MEN’S EU CHAMPIONSHIPS NAMED

A seven-strong Ireland squad has been confirmed for the European Union Men’s Elite Championships in Spain.

Boxing begins in Valladolid on November 8.

Joe Ward, the current European Elite champion, has withdrawn from the team because of a hand injury picked up winning gold at an Elite multi-nations in Romania last month.

The squad are currently training at the University of Jordanstown in Belfast with the Ulster HP team, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Romania and Switzerland ahead of the start of the 9th edition of the tournament.

Irish coach John Conlan said that 74 boxers, including Olympic medallists and World and European champions and medallists, are at the camp and Team Ireland are boxing well.

The Irish squad leave for Spain on November 7.

Boxing will be contested across the ten traditional weights for men from light-fly to super-heavy in Valladolid.
