Central Council has issued an advisory on a variety of matters to all clubs and units as follows
Elections
The IABA’s Board of Directors held an in-person meeting at the Girdwood Community Hub, Belfast, on Thursday June 5th. The Board has determined that no county or provincial elections will take place this year and all elections will, instead, take place in 2026. This is to bring the elections cycle back into alignment with Central Council. On this basis, the terms of all sitting provincial offers are extended.
Championships
Congratulation to all the new Under 19 champions, we will have squad training information out to you soon.
There will be a National Under 17’s Competition held later this year, this will accommodate the European Championships being held in Germany in December. Dates and venue will be announced shortly; we are hoping for early October.
Reminder – All the officials and R&Js are volunteers; without them we couldn’t run any Championships. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Under 15s (formerly Junior Cadets) starting on the 8th of August in the Main Stadium.
Under 23s starting also on the 8th of August in Ringside.
Note: Pro wraps are permitted in the U23 Championship, there is an error on the circular.
Central Council have two training camps this year, both in Sheffield
- England v Ireland Under 19’s Training Camp, 12th – 14th September 2025
Females: 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg / Males: 55kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 85kg
- England v Ireland Under 17’s Training Camp, 7th – 9th November 2025
Females: 46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 63kg / Males: 46kg, 50kg, 52kg, u4kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg
Box Cards/Record Books
It is the responsibility of the Clubs to ensure that Boxing Cards are collected at all Tournaments.
Transfer Window
The months of July and August are the designed months for boxers to transfer between clubs. Outside of these months, transfer may only be granted in exceptional circumstances, for example, a change of home address. Club disciplinary procedures will not constitute exceptional circumstances. In all cases of transfer, the prescribed form (Appendix 4 of the IABA Rulebook) must be completed by the boxer and both clubs and submitted to the immediate governing body of the new club.

Monkstown Box Cup
We are delighted to have an Irish Team entering the Monkstown Boxing Cup this year. It starts on the 24th of this month, we wish JP and all the committee the very best of luck with the Tournament.

Permission to Travel
Any club or team travelling outside of the Assoicaiton needs permission to do so.
Clubs must ensure all members are on Blocworx and travelling adults are Garda Vetted / AccessNI checked.
Requests are granted through the following procedure:
1st to the County Board, 2nd to the Provincial Council, 3rd to the National Secretary
When requesting permission please make sure you send it to your County Board first.
High Performance Unit
We are working closely with the new HP Director Jon Mackey, it’s brilliant to see him and his team at the National Championships.
A massive thanks to Lynne O’Shea for all the work with the Under 17’s Team heading to America next week.
We wish the Irish Elite Team the very best of luck in the World Championships in Liverpool this September.
Loads of things planned for 2026, with the Inclusion of a Four Nations for all ages groups… more details will follow.
