But the first Irish male boxer to reach a World Elite final – and win European Elite, European Youth and European U/22 gold – lost out at the home of Irish boxing.

“Sugar” Ray Moylette, the 2011 European champion, beat Sean Duffy and Tyrone McCullough, a bronze medallist at the 2010 European Elites at the Ice Palace in Moscow, outpointed Mark Lavery in Dublin.

But Jason Quigley was beaten by David Joe Joyce in the 63kg decider

Quigley won a European title in 2013 and also reached the World Elite middleweight final in Kazakhstan.

Joyce claimed Euro Junior bronze in 2007 as did Patrick Harkin who secured the lightweight belt at the Cadet Championships.

Irish Elite champions Declan Geraghty and Tommy McCarthy also had their hands raised in victory in Dublin.

Thirteen titles were won at IABA HQ on April 21/22, 2007.
