IABA is sharing the 2025 Coach Education Calendar, which includes the provision of 12 Level One: Club Coach courses and 13 Fundamentals Assistant Coach courses
- Munster will host 2 Level One and 3 Fundamentals courses in 2025
- Leinster will host 2 Level One and 4 Fundamentals courses in 2025
- Connacht will host 2 Level One and 3 Fundamentals courses in 2025
- Dublin will host 2 Level One and 3 Fundamentals courses in 2025
- Ulster will host 4 Level One and 2 Fundamentals courses in 2025
- All calendars are subject to change/amendment
IABA is open to commissioning additional Level One and/or Fundamentals courses, as need is identified. These courses can be commissioned by Provincial Councils by contacting IABA Education and Training Officer, Nikki Foley nicola@iaba.ie.
Provincials Councils should note that the ability to fulfill this request rests on: confirmation of Coach Developer availability on the date(s) requested; suitable venue availability on the date(s) requested and confirmation by the commissioning Provincial Council that a minimum of 15 participants are confirmed.
Level One
The Level One qualification includes learning technical skill learning, S&C education, session planning, coaching psychology and additional skill building. Participants will be provided with learning tools, including a coaching manual and log book and short drill video clips.
This qualification is open to any IABA member who has completed a minimum 6 months coaching in their boxing club post completion of the Fundamentals course.
The course takes place over 22 hours, including two full in-person days. The curriculum is:

Fundamentals: Assistant Coach course
This is a full day, in person introduction to coaching which includes:
- The role of the Coach – Learning on coaching children and Positive Behaviour Management
- Physical ABCs – agility, balance and co-ordination
- Technical and Tactical skills – Developing Technical and Tactical skills, the warm-up, stance, guard, footwork, Evasive & Defensive techniques and cool-down
- Corner care
- Boxing as a tool to foster positive mental, personal & social development
- Disability Inclusion in Boxing
- Health & Safety
*Fundamentals qualified coaches may sit at second corner at club, county, provincial and national level bouts.
