MICHAELA AND AIDAN WALSH QUALIFY FOR OLYMPICS

Aidan and Michaela Walsh

Michaela and Aidan Walsh booked their tickets for the Olympic Games in Paris, France today.

The Belfast sister and brother beat Sweden’s Stephanie Thour and Ukraine’s Yevheni Barabandy.

Michaela, boxing well within herself, posted a unanimous decision over Thour in the featherweight division,.

And Aidan bit down on his gum shield to grind out a 3-2 split decision over Barabandy, the No. 4 seed in the welter class.

The Walsh siblings now join Kellie Harrington, Aoife O’Rourke and Brendan Irvine on the plane to Tokyo.

Both boxers are also guaranteed at least bronze in Paris and will fight in the semi-finals tomorrow.
