Ireland will send an 11-strong team to next month’s AIBA World Men’s and Women’s Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Five members of the squad, Daina Moorehouse (gold), Dean Clancy (silver), Dearbhla Rooney (silver), Lauren Kelly (bronze) and Jude Gallagher (bronze) finished in podium positions at April’s European Youths in Italy.
The haul helped Ireland finish in 5th sport in the medals table in Roseto degli Abruzzi.
“The decision was made to accommodate the increasing interest expressed by the National Federations to take part of the Championships with the aim of developing the young generation of boxers,” said the world governing body for amateur boxing.
Irish amateur boxing is proudly sponsored by Liffey Crane.
