3 gold for Team Ireland at the Leszek Drogosz Memorial Tournament.

Team Ireland will return from the Leszek Drogosz Memorial Tournament with three gold medals, three silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

Ireland opened proceedings today, with an all-Ireland 66kg final between Lisa O’Rourke of Olympic BC, Galway, and Grainne Walsh of St. Mary’s, Tallaght. This was a tight bout and ended in a split decision, 2-1, in Lisa’s favour (29-28, 29-28, 28-29).

Niamh Fay, contesting at 57kg, met home boxer, Julia Szeremeta in the 7th bout of the day – she comes home with gold following a 3-0 decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28). Patryk Adamus, contesting at 60kg, met Poland’s Ilia Bader, and also comes home with gold, after a unanimous decision in his favour – 29-26, 29-27, 29-27.

80kg Gabriel Dossen was the last Team Ireland boxer in action today – he contested his testy final against England’s George Crotty, and sustained a count in the second round. The final result was 2-1 (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) in Crotty’s favour – Dossen returns with silver in his first international outing in 2023.
