IRISH SQUAD NAMED FOR STRANDJA MULTI-NATIONS

A ten-strong Irish squad has been named for the 72nd Standja Multi-Nations in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Boxing begins next Tuesday in the Bulgaria capital.

Ireland is doubling up in the men’s and women’s flyweight classes, with Tokyo Olympin Brendan Irvine and Niamh Earley lining out at 51kg and 52kg.

Euopean champion Aoife O’Rourke boxes at middleweight.

Former World Elite champion Kellie Harrington lines out at lightweight, with brother and sister Aidan Walsh and Michaela, George Bates, Emmet Brennan, Kiril Afanasev and Gytis Lisinskas also in the mix.

Team Ireland are building toward the European quaifiers for the Tokyo Olympics in a host city to be confirmed in April.
