Following his evening’s Ulster Boxing Council & IABA focused consultation session for clubs interested in putting boxers forward for nomination to the 2026 Commonwealth Games boxing team, a second opportunity is being afforded to clubs to feed-back in to the nomination policy finalisation process.
Ulster Boxing Council and IABA extend their thanks to all clubs who attended this evening’s consultuation session – this engagement is greatly appreciated and plays an essential role in shaping a fair, transparent, and athlete-centred nomination process.
Nomination Policy Revisions
Clause 8.1.6 has now been revised to correctly reflect that an Athlete who sustains an injury during the Ulster Elite Championships and is required to withdraw may still be considered for nomination.
The previous wording incorrectly implied that this applied to Athletes injured prior to entry. For clarity, the corrected clause now reads:
“8.1.6 An Athlete who sustains an injury during the Ulster Elite Championships and is required to withdraw may still be considered for Nomination. In such cases, the Nomination Panel will assess the Athlete using all other applicable selection factors, and the decision will be fully documented and available for review.”
An updated version of the policy is available for clubs’ review here
Feedback Submissions
Clubs are invited to submit their feedback on the nomination policy with the Ulster Boxing Council Secretary via ulsterboxing@gmail.com by midnight on Thursday 20th November.
