Twelve semi-final bouts were completed on Day 3 of the National Elites at the National Stadium in Dublin this evening.
Shannon Sweeney and Carol Coughlan will meet in the light-flyweight final after both women posted positive decisions tonight.
Paddy McShane advanced after Michael Stokes received a cut near his eye in the second round, and when it went back to the judges they marked it in favour of McShane.
Meanwhile, Niamh Faye stopped Kirsten Cresham in the first round and Sara Hagighat-Jo beat Dublin’s Emma Flannery and Jake Raple made it two in a row for the Monkstown BC in Dublin.
Adam Hession took a count in the second round versus Jude Galagher but still managed to earn a unanimous decision in a cracking contest, and Sean Purcell edged out Jordan Smith on a 3-2 split.
John Paul Hale and Dominic Bradley will meet in the lightweight finals after both men posted unanimous decision wins over Michael Steven and Teo Allen in the 60kkg class, whlle Eugune McKeever beat Michael Avetisian.
Gabriel Dossen registered a unanimous decision over Daniel O’Sullivan in the final bout of the evening.
Boxing resumes at 3pm tomorrow.
