DOSSEN CLAIMS GOLD IN NETHERLANDS

Gabriel Dossen recorded his third straight win at the Eindhoven Box Cup to claim Elite gold today.

The Olympic BC middleweight beat Dutch No 1. Max Van Der Par in the Netherlands to top the 75kg podium.

Van Der Par, a former Chemistry Cup champion, was expected to ask some serious questions of the Irish champion but Dossen earned a convincing unanimous decision.

The Galway teen beat Beijing Olympic Herry Saliko Biembe and English international Ramtin Musah on unanimous verdicts en route to today’s final.

“Gabriel pulled out all the stops again today with a near perfect performance, said Irish and Olympic BC coach Mike Mongan who was working Dossen’s corner with Johnny Myers and Lucy Mongan.

“Gabriel commanded the lead from Round 1, making use of his Jab and speed, From there he took off really against an experienced Dutch international who won Gold at the Chemistry Cup in 2015. Three exceptional performances from Gabriel all weekend.”

Dossen, pictured below receiving the award, also claimed the Best Boxer Award, reports Mike Mongan.

Meanwhile, Michael Avestian (Swords BC, Dublin) won Eindhoven Box Gold earlier today. Tony Brown boxes in his final shortly.
