Draw | European U23 Championships

The draw has taken place in Budapest for the 2025 European U23 Championships and Ireland is assured of at least one bronze medal as a result.

Team Ireland is comprised of 2025 National U23 champions, and includes World bronze medalist Patsy Joyce, World Boxing Championship boxer Louis Rooney – who was a 2024 European U23 champ, 2024 European U23 bronze medalist, Robyn Kelly, World Youth champion Cliona Darcy (2022), 2024 European Youth champion, Ava Henry and 2022 European Junior champion Tadgh O’Donnell

48kg Tiffany Spencer, of Jobstown BC, Dublin is assured of at least a bronze medal, with a bye to the semi-finals. She’s expected to make her tournament debut in the Evening Session on November 26th.

51kg Rachel Lawless, of St. Brigid’s BC, Offaly is in a category of 13 boxers. Her opening contest at Last 16 will be against Spain.

Team Co-Captain 54kg Robyn Kelly, Ballynacargy Boxing Club, Westmeath is among 11 boxers in her weight and will open her account at Last 16 stage against England

14 boxers, including Natalia Fascizewska, Castlebar BC, Mayo, will contest at 57kg. She makes her tournament debut against Azerbaijan.

60kg Rebecca Kavanagh, Mulhuddart BC, Dublin is one of 12 boxers at the weight – and she’s drawn Latvia in a Last 16 bout

Ava Henry, Dublin Docklands BC is among 12 boxers vying for gold at 65kg. She has a bye to the Quarter Finals and takes on Slovakia.

80+kg Cliona D’Arcy, Tobar Pheadair BC, Galway is among 5 boxers in her category – she makes her debut at Last 8 stage against Ukraine.

There’s 9 in 50kg Louis Rooney’s weight, (Star ABC, Belfast), and he takes on Georgia’s Lasha Kereselidze at Last 16 stage. Louis drawsheet is here

55kg Pasty Joyce, Olympic BC, Westmeath is in a category of 16 boxers, and is first between the ropes against Ukraine’s Maksym Zymenko, the 2024 European Youth Champion. Patsy’s drawsheet is here

65kg Roy Colgan, Avona BC, Dublin has a bye to the Last 16 stage in a weight with a total of 24 boxers. He’ll open his account against Germany’s Denis Bril. Roy’s drawsheet is here

Day One

5 Team Ireland boxers are in action on the first day of competition.

First up is 70kg Ryan Jenkins. He boxes Slovakia’s Adolf Stanek in Bout 5 of Ring A’s Afternoon Session. 7 bout later, in Bout 12, 75kg Tadgh O’Donnell takes on Bulgaria’s Stelian Strahilov

50kg Louis Rooney opens procedings in Ring B’s Afternoon Session, taking on Georgia’s Lasha Kereselidze in Bout 1.

In Ring A’s Evening Session, 80kg James Whelan takes on Adam Kana of the Czech Republic in Bout 6. While in Ring B’s Evening Session, Sean Mackay Trant boxes Germany’s David Onyekachi Nwanya in Bout 7.
