The board of the Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) met yesterday evening, 09/05/22, and has agreed to call and EGM, to take place in June. This EGM will include the results of elections held in late 2021.
Two motions will also be put to the members:
- That AGMs & EGMs of the company can be held anywhere within the 32 counties of Ireland in keeping with the IABA being a 32-county body.
- To ask the members to initially support the changes within the Teneo Governance review of IABA 2022 in relation to the board. That is, that all recommendations that are set out in the review on the constitution of the board of IABA are accepted. If this is agreed at the EGM, it is envisaged that the newly constituted board would then be responsible for the implementation for the rest of the recommendations.
The board also resolved that the governance review be sent to all clubs, county boards and provincial councils for their consideration. The governance review is below and has been issued to clubs, county boards and provincial units by
The board agreed that it was important that all members be given sufficient time to consider the report before calling the EGM.
The board reiterated its hope that Bernard Dunne would reconsider his resignation.
Additional information on a date and location for the EGM will issue in due course.
