IABA EXTEND SYMPATHIES TO BRERETON FAMILY

The Irish Athletic Boxing Association extends its deep condolences to the Brereton family following the death of Joe Brereton.

The late Mr Brereton was a founder-member of the St Brigid’s BC and one of the great stalwarts of Offaly and Irish boxing.

He boxed former IABA President Tommy Murphy in the Irish Elite Championships in the 1960s and also boxed Terry McCarthy in the RTE Ringside Series which was broadcast live from Dublin’s National Stadium in the 1960s.

Husband of the late Marie, the late Mr Brereton is deeply regretted by his loving nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, relatives and friends.

May he rest in eternal peace.
