Harry McGavock, the voice of Irish boxing for many decades, has passed away aged 78.
The Belfast man, known as the “Big Bopper”, was Master of Ceremonies at the home of Irish boxing for over 20 years.
Harry, himself a former champion, travelled the length and breadth of Ireland to announce bouts, and was well regarded throughout the Irish boxing family. He was known as much for his stylish attire as for his dulcet tones.
Tributes have been paid to Harry across social media, where he has been described as a true friend of Irish boxing.
