IRELAND ARRIVE HOME FROM YOUTH OLYMPICS

 

 

 

Team Ireland Boxing, Karate, Athletics, Diving and Golf returned home from the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Ireland via Dublin Airport this morning.

Dearbhla Rooney claimed featherweight bronze at the tournament.

IABA President Dom O’Rourke, IABA Registrar Stephen Connolly and Liam Brereton, pictured above, were at the Airport to greet Team Ireland.

Dimity Dimitruck worked Ireland’s corner in the Argentinian capital.

Rooney (Sean McDermott BC), flyweight Dean Clancy (Ballinacarrow BC) – who celebrated his 17th birthday yesterday –  and middleweight Lauren Kelly (St Brigid’s BC, Edenderry) represented Irish boxing at the 3rd edition of the Games.

Team Ireland, which competed in 9 sports in Argentina, claimed three medals, courtesy of Niamh Coyne, Sean McCarthy and Rooney.
