Ireland will send a five-strong male and female squad to the Nicolae Linca Golden Belt Elite multi-nations in Romania this month.

Boxing commences on May 10 in Iasi city.

World Elite silver medallists Kellie Harrington and Joe Ward, European Elite bronze medallist Christina Desmond and Carly McNaul and Kiril Afansev will represent Ireland.

Ward, the current European Elite champion, missed last weekend’s International Round Robin at Dublin’s National Stadium because of a slight hand injury.

The squad depart for Romania on May 9th.

The Golden Belt multi-nations is named after Nicolae Linca who edged Irish boxing legend Fred Tiedt in the 1956 Olympic 67kg final in Melbourne.
