
Michael Carruth, Ireland’s first Olympic gold medal winner, has achieved another historic first.
He has become the inaugural inductee in to the Defence Forces Boxing Hall of Fame.
Michael, now an IABA Boxing Development Officer with Dublin City Council and Chairperson of Drimnagh Boxing Club, is a former Sergeant in the Army’s 2nd Battalion.
The accolade was bestowed upon Michael at the finals of the All Army Championships, by Brigadier General, Brendan McGuiness, of the Defence Forces Training Centre at the Curragh Camp.
