London 2012 Olympian Darren O’Neill was elected to the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) Executive at the OCI EGM at the Conrad Hotel in Dublin last night.

 

The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) was represented by President Pat Ryan, CEO Fergal Carruth and Vice-President Joe Hernon at the EGM.

The seven individuals elected to the OCI Executive were Georgina Drumm (Athletics Ireland), Ciaran Gallagher (Gymnastics Ireland), Robert Johnson (Hockey Ireland), Patrick John Nolan (Cycling Ireland), Darren O’Neill (IABA), Denis Toomey (Paralympics Ireland) Lochlann Walsh (Triathlon Ireland).

 

O’Neill, who has previously served on the OCI Executive Board, is in action tonight at the National Elite Championships. The Kilkenny heavyweight meets John Joe McDonagh on a 14-bout semi-final card at the National Stadium in Dublin.
