CORONAVIRUS NOTICE

According to the Health Service Executive (HSE), the corona virus (covid-19) is currently in a containment phase (this may change). The IABA will continue to monitor the situation and follow the guidance issued by the HSE. We encourage all members to do likewise.

Please see below general guidance to bear in mind with regard to boxing activities:

There is presently no directive to close or cancel sporting events, but this may change as the situation evolves, so please keep a close eye on https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html

Anyone with flu-symptoms should avoid the risk of spreading their infection, whatever that infection may be, by staying at home and recovering.

For those hosting sporting events, whatever the size, attendees and participants should stay up to date on the government’s latest advice on how to avoid catching or spreading the virus https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/protect-yourself.html

For those travelling to sporting events overseas, the Department of Foreign Affairs travel advice should be followed and travellers should note that apart from the countries and territories named in that advice, the government is not presently advising against travel to anywhere else https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/coronavirus/

Hand hygiene should be strongly promoted and encouraged and equipment and facilities should be cleaned and wiped down as usual following use  https://www2.hse.ie/wellbeing/how-to-wash-your-hands.html

There is presently no reason people should stop doing their daily sport and physical activities as they normally would.

Members who have specific concerns relating to the coronavirus should contact the HSE helpline to seek further advice/guidance  Tel:1850 24 1850.
