Ireland’s highly impressive start to the Tammer Elite multi-nations continued today with six wins on the bounce in Tampere, Finland.
Wayne Kelly, Tony Browne, Kiril Afanasev, George Bates, Michael Nevin and Dean Gardiner won to join Kieran’s Molloy, who won yesterday, and Myles Casey, who received a bye, in Saturday’s semi-finals.
Former European Youth champion Nevin beat Scotland’s current Commonwealth Youth champion John Doherty tonight on a split after the Aberdeen middle retired with a cut in the second.
The entire Irish squad will be in action in the last-four tomorrow at the 23-nation tournament.
Meantime, Finland Mira Potkonen, who beat Katie Taylor at the Rio Olympics, also won at the Tammer multi-nations today.
