TEAM ANNOUNCED FOR BAKU TRAINING

The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) decided at a Central Council meeting at the National Stadium on Saturday, 28th May that no box-offs will be held at the National Stadium in Dublin, tonight (May 30th).

Middleweights Michael O’Reilly and Connor Wallace and light-welterweights Dean Walsh, Ray Moylette and Sean Mc Comb are included on a thirteen-strong Irish squad for a training camp in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The penultimate Olympic qualifier begins in Baku on June 14.

Darren O’Neill and Dean Gardiner will compete in the super-heavyweight and heavyweight class at the qualifiers and have been named on the panel, which includes Ireland’s male Rio 2016 Olympians, Paddy Barnes, Brendan Irvine, Michael Conlan, David Oliver Joyce, Steven Donnelly and Joe Ward.

The squad is set to leave for the Azeri capital on Thursday 2nd June.

The final team selection will be announced on 10th June.
