Kurt Walker (red)

Kurt Walker will meet Columbian southpaw David Avila in the last 32 of the World Elites in Ekaterinburg, Russia on Sunday.

Avila shaded France’s Samuel Kistohurry, who Walker has beaten three times since 2012, on a 3-2 split decision today to set up the last 32 showdown with Antrim’s European champion.

Walker, the No. 6 seed at the 77-nation tournament, received a bye into the last 32.

No Irish boxers are in action today.

Regan Buckley and Wayne Kelly are between the ropes tomorrow versus Indonisia and Trinidad and Tobago.

Boxing begins at 11am (Irish time) each morning.
