The 2017 European Men’s Elite Championships at a host city to be confirmed in June will act as a qualifier for the 2017 AIBA World Elite Men’s Boxing Championships in Hamburg, Germany next August.

Meanwhile, the qualification route for the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2018 will be through two Continental male and female tournaments in 2018.
In a new, and welcome, step forward, women will compete in four weight classes at the Youth Olympics, as opposed to three in the previous Youth Olympics and three in the actual Olympics.
Featherweight is the new Olympic Youth weight.
The four Olympic Youth places for women are fly, feather, light and middle. Men will compete in nine weights in Buenos Aires.
