Work in Boxing: Cork Development Officer

IABA is seeking to recruit a dynamic Development Officer to support the growth of boxing in Cork.

This role is of strategic importance to the IABA in achieving its strategic development programmes goals and enhancing existing professional structures.

Reporting directly to the National Development Manager, the successful candidate will be
responsible for the delivery of all locally based school, community and club programmes and
administration associated with the effective running of the IABA Development Team.

Clean sweep for Team Ireland at Haringey Box Cup quarter finals.

Team Ireland open their Haringey Box Cup campaign today, with 6 wins from 6.

This is the first time a Team Ireland squad will participate in the tournament, held in the Alexandra Palace from June 16th to 18th. Four rings are in operation and organisers have confirmed that the event will not be live-streamed.

71kg Darragh Gilroy opened Ireland’s account in Ring C’s bout 1, with a 3-2 win over Patrick Doherty of Fr Horgan’s ABC. In bout 13 of the same ring, 60kg Zara Breslin met Amalie Garcia of Jennings Gym and came away with a unanimous decision.

In Ring A, Bout 4, 75kg Joshua Olaniyan took on Mathew Stewart of Sunderland ABC, and was the 5-0 victor whilst in Ring B’s bout 5, 48kg Padraig Downey contested against Faluk Hussain of Windmill ABC and came away with a 3-2 split decision win.

In Ring D’s bout 5, 67kg Cian Cramer stepped between the ropes against Khya Preston of BCB and got the 4-1 decision and in bout 20, 80kg David Kennedy met Lee Mackin of St Monica’s Boxing Club; that contest was stopped in round 1, in Kennedy’s favour.

At tomorrow’s semi-finals stage, Ciara Walsh meets DCU’s Nicole Buckley in an international re-run of the 2023 National Elite Championship final at 48kg. 52kg Chloe Gabriel will meet English opposition. 66kg Leanne Murphy takes on Simone Zavicka to Thetford Town BC, while 70kg Evelyn Igharo boxes her semi final against Caitlin Kelly of Antoine Boxing. 75kg Shauna Kearney contests against Mary Kate Smith of Tetford ABC.

48kg Bryce Collins meets Elite champion Rickey Nesbitt of Holy Family Boxin Club on Saturday, and fellow 48kg campaigner, Padraig Downey is back in action. 60kg Adam Sinnot steps between the ropes against Erne BC’s Rhys Owens, while Team Ireland’s second 60kg boxer, Jason Nevin, boxes his semi final against Karl Sheridan of Cherryorchard BC. 67kg Cian Cramer meets the winner of today’s Finchley Vs. Peterborough bout, and 67kg Ryan McCarthy opens his account, having received a bye. 71kg Darragh Gilroy boxes Christopher Thomas of St. Pancras BC and Joshua Olaniyan meets the winner of White Hart Lane V Royal Navy. 80kg David Kennedy meets either Repton or DCU.
